Cultural policy system and cultural trends in Morocco and North Africa
This issue of the /encatcSCHOLAR is a follow up of the 9th ENCATC International Study Tour, which gathered 33 educators, researchers, artists, cultural professionals, and decision makers from 10 countries in Casablanca and Marrakesh, Morocco, from 10-14 June 2019
The Context section provides an infographic summary of the main data about the cultural sector in Morocco – a good way to get a quick introduction to the country cultural reality and to this specific issue. And, in the Angles section, a look at the city of Casablanca is proposed from the specific point of view of heritage and its collective management.
Three case analysis complete the issue: the experience of Kenza Sefrioui as editor and founder of the publishing house En Toutes Lettres in Morocco; the genesis of the Collective PAXI, which had its origin in the 9th ENCATC International Study Tour, and the Journée Internationale des Langues Européennes as a contribution of the EUNIC cluster Casablanca to intercultural dialogue. These three experiences allow to get the pulse to the vibrant cultural scene in Casablanca and Marrakesh.
Finally, a chronicle of the 9th ENCATC International Study Tour is offered in the Proceedings section.
We take this opportunity to thank all contributors in this issue. We hope that this issue can be a useful tool to better understand, teach and learn about cultural management and cultural policies in Morocco and Northern Africa.
